If you were LeBron James, what would you do? Would you opt into your player option for $51.4 million? Or opt out, enter free agency, and join the Phoenix Suns on a veteran minimum deal? Common sense should prevail here. But common sense ain’t always common, now is it?
The rumors have been circulating that wherever his son Bronny James goes, the King may follow. Seeing as Bronny has only worked out for the Lakers and the Suns, visions of LBJ in purple and orange started dancing in our heads.
Dance no more. It ain’t happening.
On Wednesday, King James’ agent, Rich Paul from Klutch Sports, stated that LeBron isn’t coming to Phoenix. “LeBron is also not going to Phoenix for a minimum deal,” Paul stated. “We can squash that now.”
Rich Paul also says that there is no package deal option for LeBron and Bronny with the Suns or Lakers:

"The Lakers can draft Bronny, and LeBron doesn't re-sign. LeBron is also not going to Phoenix for a minimum deal. We can squash that now." https://t.co/uQIOHV5Qev
You can read into the semantics behind these statements as Paul is doing what he can to guide narratives and maximize the opportunity for the younger James. Regardless of what the end goal is, the addition of King James was always a pipe dream. I take these statements as a period to the point versus the question marks that we’ve been asking.
“There are other teams that love Bronny,” Paul added. “For example, Minnesota, Dallas, Toronto. If it’s not the Lakers, it will be someone else. Minnesota would love to get Bronny in, but I don’t know who their owner is going to be.”
Despite the targeted workouts for Bronny, it seems as if the fire has gone out relative to the desire to bring him to Phoenix. Paul is now stirring the pot with other fan bases. Good riddance.
The Suns need someone acquired via pick number 22 who can contribute in some fashion next season and someone who can meet a need of the roster. Bronny does neither. LeBron did, but again, we’ll let that rumor be laid to rest.
