The 2024-25 NBA season is right around the corner. It’s time to unveil some hot takes and bold predictions.

I will break down three bold predictions that could come to fruition for the Suns this season. We are all counting down the days until the season begins, so let’s have some fun.

Disclaimer: These predictions lean towards somewhat realistic long shots rather than my expectations.

#1) Bol Bol eventually takes over as a starter for the Phoenix Suns

Coming in hot! It’s Bol Bol szn. Call this take “Bold Bold” if you’d like (I’ll be here all night).

It may not happen right away, but I think eventually Coach Bud will become enamored with Bol enough to toss him into the starting unit. He has a thing for stretch bigs, after all.

The Suns are small. They need as much size and length around their stars as possible, and Bol brings that to the table. His combination of handle, size, shooting, and ability to contest/alter shots makes him a viable rotation piece for this squad.

Nurkic-Bol-Durant playing alongside one another gives you some serious size to work with. The obvious glaring question then becomes which guard moves to the bench. Tyus came here to start, after all. That’s what makes this bold, I suppose.

#2) Tyus Jones morphs into his own version of CP3

I will go on the record and state that I think the Tyus Jones addition was a grand slam. I still have concerns about the balance (or lack thereof) on this roster and defensive issues, but his fit is seamless.

There will be legitimate discussions about who the third-most important player is on this team... and I believe Jones’ name will be in the conversation. No slight on Beal, because his success is still paramount for this team’s title hopes, but the impact Jones will bring will turn heads. I promise you that.

THIS ARTICLE IS INTERRUPTED BY ANOTHER CARELESS SUNS TURNOV— wait, those days are gone with Tyus Jones and Monte Morris leading the way.

I predict that he not only starts but elevates the game of others and leads the Suns’ offense to one of its best seasons in franchise history. The guy is going to get paid, likely by someone else, for what he is about to do in Phoenix.

As you can see, I am very excited about the Tyus Jones experience coming to Phoenix.

#3) Josh Okogie becomes reliable rotation piece

There have been some extreme highs and lows with Josh Okogie throughout his career. There have been frustrating stretches where it looked best to keep him glued to the bench. There have been stretches where he looked like he was going to price himself out of returning to Phoenix.

Can he put the positives together more consistently? The lack of point-of-attack defense is a major issue the Suns face. Okogie struggled a bit with that upon returning from injury, but he is more than capable of being a disruptive menace on-ball. He also creates chaos and events with the ability to pile up stocks in a hurry.

All eyes are on Ryan Dunn to step up, but I will zig while most are zagging. Maybe one of the answers to the defensive woes has been hiding in plain sight. Could we see lineups with both Ryan Dunn and Josh Okogie together? That largely depends on their progress with their jumpers.

There is a chance he doesn’t even crack the rotation with the additional depth they added (depending on Dunn’s readiness). There will be a time when he is needed, and his energy is contagious. If he can stay healthy and wreak havoc defensively, he will have a role. Jumper be damed.

Think back to masked Okogie. The guy was a menace. We need that version of him back.
